PURPOSE: A character input device is provided to perform easy character input through simple dealing of keys. CONSTITUTION: The character input device has a character input key pad part(60) consisting of ten key pads on each of which numbers of 0 to 9 and consonant and vowel of Hangeul which are arranged at left, right, up and down sides of each number are marked. Four keys among the ten key pads have the direction converting function for converting initially selected consonant or vowel with respect to each key pad to another one of four characters. A character input is performed by at most twice key presses of a first input of any one key selected among the ten keys and a second input of any one key selected from four direction converting keys. Thus, character input is simplified by performing at most twice key inputs.
