METHOD MANAGING DEFECTIVE REGION FOR WRITING RAY MEDIA

PURPOSE: Method managing defective region for writing ray media is provided to master the weakness of the conventional method for writing ray media that may produce error because the method can not determine whether sending error message to host or not because there is no information about the defective block. CONSTITUTION: The method managing defective region for writing ray media comprises the steps of: receiving data from interface of host; resolving whether the received data are data for real time processing or PC-data needing the linear replacement; storing the defective information on entry of the secondary defect list; writing normal block that includes skipping defective block when it bring about; restoring the information of alternative block and defective block separately; and notifying the position information of the skipped defective block to host.
