PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device and a hot-line insertion/extraction control method therefor that is enabled to perform suitable processing by detecting a fault during hot-line insertion/takeout by monitoring the control sequence of hot-line insertion/extraction control. SOLUTION: The device plural package 11 are connected to an internal common bus 101, is provided with a connecting state detecting means 102 for detecting the state of connection between the common bus and each package and a bus lock means 103 for inhibiting the access of the common bus to all the packages (bus lock). Concerning the electronic device with a hot line insertion/extraction control function for temporarily performing the bus lock when the insertion/extraction of the package (hot-line insertion/extraction) is performed while the power source of the device is turned on, this device is further provided with an insertion/extraction control and supervisory means 13 and when a fault has occurred during the hot line insertion/extraction control of the package, the insertion/extraction control and supervisory means logically disconnects the relevant package from the common bus and forcedly cancels the bus lock due to the bus lock means.
