PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader that can prevent an illegal acquisition of data from a card reader even when criminals attempt to illegally acquire the data from the card reader without removing the card reader from a host device.SOLUTION: The present card reader comprises: a data signal pattern for transmission of a signal of data read from a card reader and/or a signal of data to be recorded; and a destruction detection pattern for detecting disconnection of the destruction detection pattern and/or short-circuit thereof.
