PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for generating energy by using a reverse magnetostriction phenomenon.SOLUTION: A device 100 has a rotor 10 containing plural magnetostrictive members 11, and a first member 20 for applying force to at least one of the plural magnetostrictive members 11. A magnetic field H is applied to the plural magnetostrictive members 11. In the at least one magnetostrictive member 11 to which force is applied from the first member 20, the magnitude of at least a part of magnetization varies. At least two magnetostrictive members 11 to which different magnitudes of force are applied from the first member 20 are different in magnitude of magnetization, whereby the rotor 10 is rotated. Through the rotation, the magnetostrictive members 11 to which force is applied from the first member 20 are interchanged, and a difference occurs in magnitude of magnetization between a magnetostrictive member 11 to which force is newly applied and a magnetostrictive member 11 to which no force is applied, thereby rotating the rotor 10.
