An apparatus 1 for controlling operation of a vehicle system 2 is provided. The apparatus 1 includes a processor 7 operable in an automatic mode to output a control signal S1, S2 to automate operation of the vehicle system 2. The processor 7 is configured to receive a measurement signal MS from a sensor 17 associated with the vehicle system 2. The processor 7 outputs the control signal S1, S2 in dependence on a comparison of the measurement signal MS to a control function. A user override of the automated operation of the vehicle system 2 is detected and the processor 7 re-calibrates the control function in dependence on the detected user override. The present disclosure also relates to a vehicle V and to a method of controlling operation of a vehicle system 2. The vehicle system 2 may be a windshield or windscreen wiper system, a headlight control system, or a sound volume control system which respectively further comprises a rain sensor 117, an optical sensor 217, or an audio transducer 317. |
