A slip ring has a rotating portion 29 configured to take in signals from rotating electric transmission elements, and communicate those signals to brushes 39 on a static portion (30, Fig 1). The rotating portion has a plurality of resistors 38, which are held in by a containment ring 40 surrounding their outer peripheral surface. The resistors may be rectangular, and the containment band may have corresponding flat portions (64, Fig 5A) on its inner surface. The slip ring may be used, as shown in Fig 1A, to connect strain gauges 27 on a component under test 22, such as a turbine, to a control 32 while the component is rotated by motor 26 or by air in a wind tunnel (118, Fig 1B). |
