A pumped laser cavity includes two parallel glass tubes forming two cavities, a flashlamp for placement in one of the cavities, wherein either the flashlamp or one or more of the parallel glass tubes are doped with one or more of Samarium or Europium.

1. A method of improving the operation of a laser assembly, comprising:
providing a glass element, wherein the glass element comprises two, parallel glass tubes for holding each one of a laser rod or a pumping flash lamp; doping at least one of the two parallel glass tubes of the glass element with one or more of Samarium or Europium, whereby, upon excitation, the doped glass element absorbs at least part of the blue emission spectrum irradiated from the pumping flash lamp when activated.
