The invention is a modular computing system and method of use. The invention includes a chassis used for structurally supporting a plurality of computer resource modules. The chassis provides a power source and connection point for the computer resource modules. The computer resource modules segment and replicate user information to provide redundancy of information in the case of failure. The computer resource modules elect a lead computer resource module to handle the organization of the computer resource modules during use. The computer resource modules provide a hierarchy of leadership in case the lead resource module fails. The operating software provides floating application storage which can persist across the multiple computer resource modules after the application is closed. The application can access the floating application storage when it is reopened.

1. A computer implemented process of creating a cluster of computer resource modules acting in concerted fashion comprising
a) transmitting a beacon signal from one or more first computer resource modules
i) said first computer resource module removably secured to a chassis;ii) said beacon signal comprising a media access control address for said first computer resource module, an internet protocol address for said first computer resource module, and an alphanumeric identifier specific to said first computer resource module; b) receiving said beacon signal on one or more second computer resource modules communicatively coupled to said one or more first computer resource modules; c) filtering, by said one or more second computer resource modules, for received beacon signals containing an alphanumeric identifier specific to a computer resource module; d) creating a registry listing each of said one or more first computer resource modules whose beacon signals have been received by said one or more second computer resource modules
i) said registry comprising said media access control address, said internet protocol address, and said alphanumeric identifier for each of said one or more first computer resource modules; e) a lead computer resource module for said one or more first computer resource modules and said one or more second computer resource modules.
