The invention proceeds initially from a method for the thermostatically controlled matching of the heat output of a thermal radiator (1), especially for heating large spaces, to a set room temperature, the thermal radiator having one or more radiator pipes provided at one end with a gas burner arrangement (3) and at the other end with an induced-draught fan (5) which produces a low pressure in the interior of the radiator pipe. In order to maintain a nearly constant temperature in the space and to preserve respectively the thermal radiators and their burner equipments, the method provides for a simultaneous reduction (increase) in both the burner power and the draught power to a lower value (higher value) with the aid of a thermostat for the purpose of reducing (increasing) the heat output. Furthermore, the invention relates to a device for carrying out the method. <IMAGE>
