PURPOSE: The method is to pack data by preset unit size perform when data-encoding and error-detecting by cyclic redundancy check process is performed, However, for the non-packed residual bits, zero is added to pack all bits in data by unit size. CONSTITUTION: The data encoding method comprises a first step in which bit size of input data is compared to preset size, a second step in which according to the result of comparison, data bit unsatisfying required size is filled with zero and a third step in which error correcting code is sequentially created to the data starting from a part filled with zero. Also, the data error detecting method comprises the first step, the second step and a third step in which whether receipt error occurs or not is sequentially detected to the data starting from a part filled with zero. Thus, since a separate hardware that operates in different bit number rather than the hardware that operates in preset unit size is unnecessary, costs are relatively inexpensive and rapid encoding and error detecting can be performed.
