PURPOSE: A back light assembly is provided to reduce a thickness of a portion of LCD (liquid crystal display) on which a lamp assembly is mounted so as to reduce an entire thickness and weight of the LCD. CONSTITUTION: The back light assembly comprises a mold frame of which a part is removed to provide a receiving space and a lamp assembly(120) which is mounted in the receiving space of a mold frame(110) so as to serve as the mold frame. The lamp assembly comprises a lamp(122) for generating a light, a lamp cover(126) which covers an outer circumference of the lamp and of which a part is opened along a length of the lamp so as to be inserted into an end of the receiving space and a fixing means for fixing the lamp cover to the mold frame. The lamp cover is made of a blister copper to improve a strength against an impact. The fixing means comprises a male screw inserting hole which is formed at both ends of the lamp cover, a female screw portion which is formed on the mold frame corresponding to the male screw inserting hole and a male screw portion which is inserted into the male screw inserting hole and the female screw portion so as to fix the lamp cover to the mold frame. Thereby, the thickness and weight of the LCD is reduced.
