PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat fluorescent lamp in which it is possible to alleviate degradation of a phosphor with a lapse of time, reduce leak electric power and reduce an area of a heat generating source. SOLUTION: In a flat fluorescent lamp in which an air-tight discharge space is defined by bonding a front glass board 1 and a back glass board 2 to each other, the back glass board 2 is formed into an uneven shape. At the outside surface of a projection 3 of the uneven shape, a pair of electrodes 4, 5 are alternately arranged in a stripe manner. Furthermore, phosphor films 7 are formed at the inside surface of the front glass board 1 and the inside surface of a recess 6 of the uneven shape.
