PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp capable of efficiently shielding undesired radiation at a low cost. SOLUTION: This light source device 10 has a shielding layer 22 for shielding undesired radiation generated in an arc tube 28. When this high-pressure discharge lamp 16 of the light source device 10 incorporated in an optical apparatus is lit, discharge is generated in an electrode 40 in the arc tube 28, and the undesired radiation is generated with the discharge. Since the undesired radiation is, however, shielded by the shielding layer 22 formed on the device 10, the undesired radiation is never leaked to the outside of the light source device. Thereby, the need of mounting a shielding member to a housing part of an optical engine with the optical device 10 mounted can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
