PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for route guidance which quickly changes guidance routes so as not to get around or turn back greatly in the case a mobile object deviates from a guidance route, without searching again as much as possible. SOLUTION: The route guidance apparatus generates a plurality of routes connecting a start point to a destination, stores intersections on the plurality of routes and sets a first route as an initial guidance route among the plurality of routes. In the case the mobile object deviates from the guidance route, when the mobile object is positioned on a second route which is one of the plurality of routes and other than the first route, the route guidance apparatus judges as to whether or not the mobile object can return to the first route by using one or more routes among the plurality of routes except the first route. In the case the mobile object can return to the first route, a route is set as the guidance route allowing the mobile object to return to the first route by using above-mentioned one or more routes. In the case the mobile object can not return to the first route, a route is set as the guidance route allowing the mobile object to reach the destination by using the above-mentioned one or more routes.
