<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing method whereby a data transfer rate from a host apparatus to a recorder is reduced, density irregularities are suppressed, and reduction of apparatus costs can be attained, and also to provide a recorder, a host apparatus, and a recording system. <P>SOLUTION: A mask pattern corresponding to each of a plurality of the number of times of scanning is prepared for each of a plurality of unit regions of a recording medium. Different mask patterns are prepared for different unit regions. Then, the mask pattern corresponding to the scanning is applied to image data, thereby producing thinned image data corresponding to the scanning. Next, the thinned image data is compressed on the basis of the mask pattern used in the production of the thinned image data. Both the compressed image data and information related to the mask pattern used in the compression are transferred from the host apparatus to the recorder. The transferred compressed image data is restored on the basis of the transferred mask pattern. Recording is carried out on the basis of the restored image data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
