PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam reformer for reforming hydrocarbons and the like with steam which uniformly adjusts the temperature inside a hydrogenation desulfurization catalyst layer.SOLUTION: In a concentric multiple cylinder type steam reformer 1 in which a reforming catalyst layer 2, a water gas shift catalyst layer 3, and a hydrogenation desulfurization catalyst layer 4 are integrated, three heat transfer cylinders from a first cylinder 16 to a third cylinder 19 are radially arranged from inside to outside in this order, the reforming catalyst layer and a raw material supply passage 18 supplying a mixture of a raw material gas and steam are axially formed between the first cylinder 16 and a second cylinder 17, the hydrogenation desulfurization catalyst layer 4 is formed between the second cylinder and the third cylinder so as to surround the outside of the raw material supply passage, the inflow side of the hydrogenation desulfurization catalyst layer is communicated with a supply part of the raw material gas mixed with a hydrogen gas for a desulfurization reaction, the outflow side of the hydrogenation desulfurization catalyst layer is communicated with the raw material supply passage 18 through an opening part 4d formed in the second cylinder, and the water gas shift catalyst layer 3 is formed outside the third cylinder so as to surround the outside of the hydrogenation desulfurization catalyst layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
