PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection system configured to identify a position of a vehicle having no GPS receiver and located outside a service area of a ranging sensor, over an inter-vehicle communication.SOLUTION: A position detection system includes: a GPS 1 mounted on each of a plurality of vehicles C to detect a position thereof; a ranging sensor 4a for detecting a distance and a direction of another vehicle based on one vehicle; an in-vehicle radio communication device 2 which transmits/receives the obtained position information and ranging information over an inter-vehicle communication, so as to be shared with the vehicles C; and an in-vehicle information processing device 3. The in-vehicle information processing device 3 identifies a position of the other vehicle with respect to the one vehicle, on the basis of the received ranging information and position information, and the position information of the one vehicle detected by the GPS 1, or the distance and direction of the one vehicle detected by the ranging sensor 4a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
