PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device capable of suppressing increase of a root stress on a stroke end position of a rack shaft.SOLUTION: A steering device 1 comprises: a pinion shaft 7 on which a pinion tooth 7a is formed; a rack shaft 8 on which a rack tooth 8a is formed, the rack tooth engaged with the pinion shaft 7a; and a pair of stoppers 17 for regulating movement of the rack shaft 8 on left and right stroke end positions of the rack shaft 8. The rack shaft 8a is configured so that, with a portion 15 engaging with the pinion shaft 7a in a steering neutral state as a reference position, one end side X1 and the other end side X2 of the rack shaft 8 are a non-asymmetric state with the reference position as a center. In the stroke position of the rack shaft 8, the stroke end position is offset from a peak generation stroke position where a tooth stress of the rack tooth 8a based on engagement transmission by the pinion shaft 7a, becomes its peak.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
