Provided is a backward movement prevention device for a pedal device for a vehicle, the backward movement prevention device preventing an operating pedal from moving backward when a dash panel is displaced toward the rear of the vehicle when the vehicle is subjected to a frontal collision, wherein the backward movement prevention device can, irrespective of the condition of an output member, prevent the operating pedal from moving backward. A brake pedal device 1 has a pedal bracket 10, an operating pedal 20, an intermediate lever 25, a connection link 30, a pivoting lever 35, and a connection member 40. When a dash panel P is displaced toward the rear of the vehicle due to a frontal collision, etc., the pivoting lever 35 comes into contact with a bracket C for collision, the bracket C belonging to an instrument panel reinforcement I, and pivots, thereby breaking a connection pin 32 through the second link member 42 of the connection member 40. The breakage of the connection pin 32 disconnects the operating pedal 20 and the intermediate lever 25 from each other to enable the operating pedal 20 to freely rotate about a first support shaft 11, and as a result the backward movement of the operating pedal 20 toward the driver's seat is prevented. |
