A tripod constant velocity universal joint 1 comprises: an external joint member 2 in which a track groove 6 extending in the axial direction at three equidistant locations in the circumferential direction is formed; a tripod member 3 having a trunnion journal 9 protruding in the radial direction from three equidistant location in the circumferential direction of a trunnion body 8; and a spherical roller 4 rotatably mounted around the trunnion journal 9 with a plurality of needle-shaped rollers 5 therebetween. The spherical roller 4 is housed in the track groove 6, and the outer spherical face of the spherical roller 4 is guided by way of a roller guiding face 7 formed on both side faces of the track groove 6. The tripod constant velocity universal joint is characterized in that the axial movement of the needle-shaped rollers 5 toward a base portion A of the trunnion journal 9 is restricted by way of a corner 10b without any recesses being formed on the base portion A of the trunnion journal 9 and the end rounded portion 5c of the needle-shaped rollers 5 interfering with the corner 10b of the base portion A. |
