PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably provide a video having corrected gradation crush of a predetermined object and improved visibility, when gradation of a region containing the predetermined object in the video is crushed.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus is provided with: an image input unit 0101; an image signal correction unit 0102 which subjects an image signal input from the image input unit to signal level correction processing, and outputs the image signal of which the level has been corrected; a gradation crush detecting unit 0103_1 which detects presence or absence of the region of which the gradation has been crushed from the image signal input from the image input unit; a predetermined object presence or absence estimating unit 0103_2 which estimates the presence or absence of the predetermined object in the region of which the gradation has been crushed from the image signal input from the image input unit; and an image signal correction control unit 0103_3 which performs control of input/output characteristics of signal level correction processing of the image signal correction unit based on the detected result of the gradation crush detecting unit and the estimated result of the predetermined object presence or absence estimating unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
