PURPOSE:To enable balanced driving of the voltage across primary winding without requiring a chopper by connecting inverters with each of a plurality of sections of the primary winding and connecting the input sides of respective inverters in series or parallel according to DC voltage in travel section. CONSTITUTION:Output sides of first and second inverter units 28a, 28b are connected respectively with primary winding sections 30a, 30b of an induction motor 29. In a travel section where the stringing 23 has 1,500V or 750V voltage, a switch 27c, or a switch 27a and a switch 27b are closed to connect the units 28a, 28b in series or parallel. By such arrangement, chopper can be eliminated and the voltage of primary winding can be driven while being balanced. |
