PURPOSE: To reduce chattering by shortening a component cutting edge very much. CONSTITUTION: A cutting edge 17 is furnished with a plural number of intermittent component cutting edges 17a-17c and intermediate edges 19 respectively positioned between these intermittent component cutting edges 17a-17c. Each of perpendiculars to an axis of rotation of a cutting tool passing through rear end parts of these component cutting edges crosses the intermittent component cutting edges in such a way that the intermittent component cutting edges are partially accumulated on each other during milling work. Consequently, a chip is formed by the short cutting edge, force of a result influenced by a cutting insert is comparatively weak, and chattering is minimized. |
