PURPOSE: To obtain a synchronization method for bidirectional data application by which a user supplies transmission data at a rate controlled by the user by supplying an additional symbol according to a data symbol. CONSTITUTION: In a constellation example, five bits are mapped into one data symbols, so f2 is 1/5 as large as the data bit rate which is controlled by a user. A rate converter 108 received respective data symbols outputted by an encoder 107 and selectively adds additional symbols. With the additional symbols, the symbol rate increases from f2 to f1 . Data symbols outputted by the encoder 107 are represented with dots, and the added symbols are represented with 'X' arranged between dots. A sequence consisting of data given by the rate converter 108 and additional symbols is passed through a shaping filter 109, a D/A converter 110, and a low-pass filter 111 and coupled with a 1st conductor pair 104. |
