<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an esterified propolis excellent in digestive and absorptive properties and easily enhancing preferable physiological action of the propolis, and to provide a method for producing the same and to provide an anticancer agent and food formulation comprising the esterified propolis. <P>SOLUTION: The esterified propolis is produced by esterifying an organic acid in the propolis by acting an enzyme to the propolis in the presence of an alcohol. A hydrolase such as a chlorogenic acid esterase, a tannase, a ferulic acid esterase, etc., is usable as the enzyme. The preferred propolis is an extract of propolis, more preferred is an alcohol extract of propolis, and most preferred is an ethanol extract of the propolis.
