COLORING MATERIAL, OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM USING THE SAME AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring material which can be applied to optical recording media for short wavelengths and excels in solubility in solvents.

SOLUTION: A suitable coloring material particularly contains a cyanine compound and an azo compound. This cyanine compound contains at least a trimethine cyanine compound in which an aromatic structure containing two nitrogen-containing heterocycles is bound with a trimethine group. And, at least one of the nitrogen-containing heterocycles has a benzyl group which may have a substituent, and at least one of them has a 2-30C organic group substituted with a nitrogen atom. Furthermore, the azo compound contains at least a chelate compound of a compound containing an azo group with a metal.
