PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve visibility of a display panel, improve design and prevent peeling- off of a printed layer by providing a printed layer having a smaller area than a substrate on a polarization plate provided on the rear cover side of the device. SOLUTION: A timepiece case 35 has a windshield glass 36 and a rear cover part 37. An absorption type polarization plate 16, a second substrate 6, a liquid crystal layer 11, a seal material 12, a first substrate 1 and a reflection type polarization plate 15 are arranged from the side of the windshield glass 36. The printed layer of the gold color of transmissivity of 50% is disposed on the side of the rear cover of the reflection type polarization plate 15. The reflection display of metal tone and the display of a printed layer 17 is enabled by utilizing the reflection type polarization plate 15 on the first substrate 1, the absorption-type polarization plate 16 on the second substrate 6, and optical change for application voltage of the printed layer 17 and the liquid crystal layer 11. Display in a contrast ratio is enabled. Furthermore, since the printed layer 17 is lessened from the reflection-type polarization plate 15, the deterioration of the outer peripheral part of the reflection-type polarization plate 15 is prevented, and the stability of peeling of the printed layer 17 and connection of a circuit substrate 38 and an electrode is improved. |
