<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device provided with an objective lens having a higher NA and capable of obtaining a sufficient optical disk protective performance even when recording and reproducing information signals at a high speed to/from an optical disk provided with a thin cover layer. <P>SOLUTION: The protective member 25 for preventing the objective lens 20 from being in contact with the optical disk 1 is constituted of a member in a thin plate shape which is constituted of an elastic material softer than the cover layer 14 of the optical disk 1 and in which a plurality of projected shape parts 26 are formed so as to surround the objective lens 20 on the surface facing the optical disk 1 of the protective member 25.
