The chip card (1) incorporates a semiconductor chip with an erasable read-only memory (2) and an associated logic circuit (4) for processing digital data and a second read-only memory (6) in which non-erasable digital data is stored, electrically coupled to the first memory and its logic circuit. The chip may also incorporate a HV generation circuit (5) and be coupled to the second read-only memory provided by a separate chip via a number of electrical connections (7) including a data line (71), a handshake line (72) a data transfer earth line (73), a HV line (74) and a further earth line (75).
