PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display control device in which gradation display is conducted and the reduction in power consumption is attained by a self refresh mode. SOLUTION: When conducting display control of the LCD that supports a self refresh mode of one line (a lateral direction pixel group) in the device, an LCD driver 203 determines whether a data transfer is conducted to an LCD or not depending on the condition of the signal, which indicates whether it is withing the gradation display region or not transmitted through a signal line 216, and condition of the signal which is transmitted through a signal line 220 and indicates whether the data on a VRAM are rewritten or not. If it is within the gradation display region or the data are rewritten, it is discriminated that it is necessary to conduct a data transfer, timing is determined by the value of an operation-counter transmitted through a signal lien 221 and the data on a signal line 217 are transferred to the LCD.
