PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for manufacturing a thermoelectric material is provided to transfer the mixture to an extruder by melting and mixing the solidified thermoelectric material together with dopant in a high vacuum chamber after ultrasonic cleaning, vacuum drying, and melting, refining and solidifying the thermoelectric material in a vacuum tank. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for manufacturing a thermoelectric material comprises a crucible system(100) into which a Bi-Te based thermoelectric material is charged, and which uniformly melts the Bi-Te based thermoelectric material; an agitation system(200) guiding mixing of the Bi-Te based thermoelectric material using an impeller system(10) positioned inside the crucible system(100); a heating and cooling system(300) melting the Bi-Te based thermoelectric material by applying heat to the crucible system(100); an atmospheric chamber system(400) preventing oxidation of the Bi-Te based thermoelectric material melted by the crucible system(100) to the outside; a gas supplying system(500) guiding melting and fusion of the Bi-Te based thermoelectric material by supplying a gas into the atmospheric chamber system(400); a vacuum system(600) which is connected to the side surface of the atmospheric chamber system(400), and maintains a constant degree of vacuum by controlling reducing atmosphere inside the atmospheric chamber system(400); an extrusion system(700) in which the Bi-Te based thermoelectric material is solidified into a solid state through a transfer pipe(20) positioned at the lower part of the crucible system(100), and the solidified Bi-Te based thermoelectric material is extruded through a cylinder(30); a gas and vacuum system(800) constantly controlling vacuum and gas states inside the transfer pipe(20); and a cooling system(900) controlling a crystal growing temperature by cooling the Bi-Te based thermoelectric material transferred to the extrusion system(700).
