A disc cartridge comprises a cartridge main body, a shutter, and a disc holder. The cartridge main body includes a disc storage part that stores a disc having a signal record face so that one side of the disc is exposed outside under rotatable state, a chucking opening part that is provided in the bottom of the disc storage part to chuck the disc from outside, and a head opening part which is used for the access of the head for at least one of reproducing and recording signals on the recording face of the disc. The shutter is so supported as to move to the cartridge main body to open at least the head opening part to the outside or to block it from the outside. The disc holder holds the disc to or releases it from the cartridge main body.
