PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for electrorheological fluid capable of being embodied in an ultra-small construction and assuring applicability to a micromachine. SOLUTION: The control device for electrorheological fluid is to be installed in the flow passage of the ER fluid and formed from a tube 10 having the specified overall length in which the ER fluid flows. The tube 10 has a wall furnished with electrodes 12, and the intensity of the electric field is varied by controlling the impression voltage between the electrodes, and thereby the viscosity of the ER fluid is controlled.
