<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication system capable of utilizing both of a working path and a protection path for data transmission as for a SONET network having both of the communication paths, in order to improve further the efficiency for the availability of cost and band. <P>SOLUTION: The system communicates data by a synchronous light network / a synchronous Digital hierarchy, and consists of an optical line terminating device.
