An electronic paper display device having metal barriers and a method for fabricating the display device are provided to improve the contrast of displayed images by applying an electric field to the metal barriers to easily remove particles adhering to barriers of pixel spaces. An electronic paper display device includes an upper substrate(1), a lower substrate(6), an upper electrode(2), a lower electrode(7), metal barriers(4), and electrophoretic particles(9). The upper substrate and the lower substrate are arranged opposite to each other having a predetermined distance between them. The upper electrode and the lower electrode are respectively formed on the upper substrate and the lower substrate. The metal barriers are formed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate to form pixel spaces. The metal barriers are covered with an insulator(5). The electrophoretic particles are filled in the pixel spaces. |
