PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for a coating capable of obtaining a normal temperature-drying type solvent-based undercoating having an excellent anti-chipping property, and excellent in close adhesion, etc., and a coating and coated film by using such the material. SOLUTION: This material for the coating is provided by comprising a lipophilic polyrotaxane having a ring molecule, a straight chain molecule and blocking groups, wherein, the straight chain molecule and ring molecule have hydrophobicity. The inclusion amount of the ring molecule is 0.06-0.61. The molecular weight of the straight chain-formed molecule is 1,000-100,000. The normal temperature-drying type solvent-based undercoating is obtained by using the material for the normal temperature-drying type solvent-based undercoating. The solvent-based undercoating-coated film is obtained by solidifying the material for the normal temperature-drying type solvent-based undercoating. The laminated coated film is obtained by sequentially forming the normal temperature-drying type solvent-based undercoating-coated film, a base coat-coated film and a clear coated film.
