摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of automatically adjusting the position of a dome forming tool by determining the position of a reciprocating ram in a can forming machine.SOLUTION: The system includes a punch position sensor assembly 52, a control system 54, and a dome forming tool positioning assembly 56. The punch position sensor assembly 52 is preferably disposed around a ram 14 on the dome forming tool 18 side of a last die 30. At this position, the punch position sensor assembly 52 can measure the position of the ram 14 at time of entry into die in a return process. The control system 54 receives data from the punch position sensor assembly 52, and transmits a signal to the dome forming tool positioning assembly 56 so as to adjust the position of the dome forming tool 18 when the ram 14 is not substantially concentrically aligned with a die pack during the return process.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
