PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic playing device capable of easily reproducing such a sound quality as obtained by actual playing by a player, using control means such as an existing MIDI standard.SOLUTION: An automatic playing device of a percussion instrument for automatically playing the percussion instrument on the basis of music data includes: striking means for striking a sound production unit of the percussion instrument to produce a sound ; driving means for driving the striking means to make it strike the sound production unit; controlling means for outputting a drive command signal to the driving means on the basis of the music data; and imparting means of gate time for imparting an ON/OFF time interval to the drive command signal output from the controlling means.
