An optical device that is provided with one or more light sources and with a light-guiding plate that guides the light from the light source(s) within a plane that is parallel to an emission surface of the light. The light-guiding plate has a plurality of light-convergence parts that have respective optical surfaces that receive light that is guided by the light-guiding plate and cause emission light to be emitted from the emission surface in directions that substantially converge on a convergence point in space or that substantially diverge from a convergence point in space. The plurality of light-convergence parts has different convergence points, and an image is formed in space on the emission-surface side from the aggregation of the plurality of convergence points. A plurality of first light-convergence parts, which, from among the plurality of light-convergence parts, are provided in different positions along the light-guidance direction, cause emission light to be emitted from the emission surface in different directions that substantially converge on the same first convergence point from among the plurality of convergence points or that substantially diverge from the first convergence point.
