<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a coma aberration caused by optical components themselves constituting an optical pickup and a coma aberration in the radial direction due to the curvature and surface wobbling of an optical disk. <P>SOLUTION: An optical pickup is provided with; a light source 31 which emits a light beam of a prescribed wavelength; an objective lens 32 which condenses the light beam emitted from the light source 31 on the signal recording face of an optical disk 11; a liquid crystal optical element 38 which is arranged between the light source 31 and the objective lens 32 and adjusts an aberration quantity of a coma aberration by changing refractive indexes; an optical path separation means 35 which divides the optical path of returned light reflected from the optical disk 11; and a light detection means 36 which detects the returned light separated by the optical path separation means 35. The liquid crystal optical element 38 has a pair of electrodes which are arranged opposite each other in an optical axis direction. One of the electrodes is provided with; a first pattern for correcting a coma aberration in the radial direction; and a second pattern for correcting a coma aberration in the tangential direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
