<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium for matte-type inkjet use, having optimum printabilities applicable to printing either with dye inks or pigment inks. <P>SOLUTION: The recording medium for water-based ink comprises an ink receptive layer having a porous layer containing reactive substances for inorganic pigments and ink coloring matter provided on the surface of a paper support body. It is characterized in that, upon dropping of droplets of 4 μl of distilled water onto the surface of the ink receptive layer, immediately after the dropping, the droplets are absorbed in three stages at a first absorption rate V1, a second absorption rate V2 and a third absorption rate V3. Each droplet absorption rate satisfies the relationship of equation 0<V2<V1 and equation 0<V2<V3, and when the inflection point in the transition of each absorption stage to the subsequent absorption stage is a, b, respectively, and the absorption amounts at the respective inflection points are qa, qb, the absorption amount qa at the inflection point a is not less than 1.3 μl and less than 2.0 μl, and the absorption amount qb at the second inflection point b is not less than 2.0 μl and less than 2.5 μl. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
