摘要 An optical waveguide cable (I) for connecting a waveguide guard cable (A) with the corresp. station or equipment. Cable (A) consists of round elements with a central core (1) surrounded by layer(s) of high-tensile wires (2), over which is twisted at least one layer of electrically conducting wires, with at least one element (1 or 2) replaced by a stainless steel tube (5) contg. several loose, overlong optical waveguides (6) surrounded by a gel (7); in the first layer of wires (2), one or more wires is/are replaced by symmetrically placed waveguide tubes (5), or the central core element (1') consists of a waveguide tube (5). The core of (I) resembles or corresponds to the core of (A) (consisting of central element (1 or 1'), high-tensile wires (2 or 2') and waveguide tubes (5)) and is enclosed in an extruded plastic sheath (4). The core of (I) has dia. 5-10mm and consists of 1+6, or rarely 3+9, wires of steel, Al-clad steel, Al or Al alloy with dia. about 2.5mm (1 and 2), with at least one wire (2) replaced by a tube (5), surrounded by a counterwound strip (3) of steel or plastic and a 3-mm thick outer sheath of extruded plastic, e.g., PE, HDPE or PVC.
