PURPOSE: To reduce the power consumption of a stopwatch and ensure the high precision thereof by selecting a stopwatch count input signals, depending on the required precision. CONSTITUTION: A signal generated with an oscillation circuit 101 is divided into signals necessary for a basic time count, for example, 1Hz signals, via a frequency dividing circuit 102 and a reference signal frequency dividing circuit 103 for a basic time count. A basic time count circuit 109 counts reference signals from the circuit 103 for counting a basic time. When a switch 105 is pressed and stopwatch mode is entered through a control circuit 106, a stopwatch count control circuit 107 operates. Also, in the case of high-precision measurements, a stopwatch drive circuit 104 to output a signal with a frequency equal to or above a basic time count reference signal, for example, a 100Hz or 10Hz signal, is operated to actuate a stopwatch count circuit 108. On the other hand, in the case of low-precision measurements, the circuit 104 is stopped, and selection and control are made, so that an output signal from the circuit 103 is inputted to the circuit 108. |
