PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fluctuation in the quantity of light of a deuterium lamp due to fluctuation of commercial power supply voltage significantly along with temperature drift. SOLUTION: Power is fed from a heater power supply section 4 to the cathode heater of a deuterium lamp 1 and when electrons are emitted sufficiently from the cathode, the charging voltage of a capacitor C at a trigger power supply section 2 is applied, as a trigger voltage, to the anode of deuterium lamp 1. A transition is made from initial discharge to main discharge in the deuterium lamp 1 and a constant current is fed from the constant power supply 9 at a main power supply section 3 to the deuterium lamp 1. Since the output voltage from a switching constant voltage power supply 8 is invariant even if the voltage of a commercial power supply 5 fluctuates, output current from the constant power supply 9 is also invariant and the quantity of light of deuterium lamp 1 is kept at a constant level. |
