The damping disk device (1) has a friction shim disk (48) between an input plate (32) and a hub flange (18). The shim disk is operated by the input plate so that torque can be transmitted from the input plate to the hub flange. There is a conical spring between the shim disk and the input plate, acting axially to create axial tension between these two components.
