<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device to record information on the recording layer having high light transmissivity like the L0 layer of a two-layer optical recording medium by pulse modulating the laser beam without making the top pulses and multi-pulses thin on an optical disk which can cool the front of the marks. <P>SOLUTION: When recording on a half-transmissive recording layer having high light transmissivity, this method pulse modulates the laser beam to form a pulse train including the top pulse and the following multi-pulses of the recording power, and the cooling pulses between the top pulse and the multi-pulses and between the multi-pulses. It modulates the data to record in the length of the recording marks, and as the recording strategy at this time the falling timing of the top pulse is controlled such that the expression 1.1≤Tfcl/(1-Tmp)≤2.4 is satisfied, when representing the first multi-pulse width after the top pulse by Tmp and the cooling pulse width right after the top pulse by Tfcl. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
