PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for processing information, capable of suitably detecting a deleted part or all deleted parts of content information before reproduction and of preventing the interruption of the reproducing process of the content information when the content information is reproduced by using a reference format file. SOLUTION: Plural bits of content information 101 to 111 are obtained according to the reproducing procedure of the plural bits of content information set by using a reference format file 303. A content management file 407 indicating the deleted state of the plural bits of content information is obtained. Searching is made as to the deletion of the contents of the obtained content information based on the content management file. As a result, the content information whose contents are not deleted is reproduced as it is. The content information whose contents are deleted is not reproduced, and the process moves to the reproduction of the next content information of the reproducing procedure.
