<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode having a carbon nanotube light emitting layer formed on a large conductive layer, and its field emission display panel. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon nanotube layer has a smaller width than the conductive layer under that. The width of the carbon nanotube layer is set to be smaller than 3/4 the width of the conductive layer, or within a range of about 1/4 to 3/4 the width of the conductive layer, that is a silver resin layer, for example. In this novel structure, overflow is not caused at a conductive layer side wall after a nanotube hardening process of carbon nanotubes, and the specific gravity gets closer to an electron density emitted by a phosphor powder applied layer, while images by electron dispersion are reduced.
