The transmitted codes and onboard aircraft codes may be changed at intervals without human intervention. The code receiving circuit may perform a control function e.g. raise the undercarriage or shut down the engines during or after landing or if a takeoff is attempted. The circuit may keep track of the flight path and take account of recognized emergency airfields and diversions from the intended route. The equipment includes an alarm and is installed in an inaccessible place to prevent tampering.
